Ball python skin sags

eunectes4 Jul 06, 2004 10:12 PM

My 19.5 month old female just shed and released a massive amount of fecal matter and now her skin is saggy all over the place. It wrinkles like 3 or 4 folds everywhere she bends. She looks like she is a 95 year old woman now and I dont know what I should do. She was super solid before and has always been that way but this poop was like she had been saving a little bit since she was born and now its like she emptied all her insides. should i slow her feedings down, speed them up, take her out more to run some laps? this is a problem I have never had before...what do you guys think?

I think she got a little dehydrated when she crapped and if you give it a little time she will be okay. Might want to soak her for awhile. I've never ran into something like this but since no one answered I thought I'd give you my best guess.

Good luck!!

I will give it a shot but i had been soaking her days before shed to also try and get a bowl movement out of her and the skin is like thick that is sagging. Looks like a 6 year old wearing their parents clothes...seriously like she built up all this crap and got all big and now she is empty. Seriously the poop was almost half her body length and near as big around as her...there looked to be a little blood near her cloaca after shed (on the shed skin) and this happened the last shed as well. Not anything I or anyone I know has ever seen...any help would be appreciated..thanks.

I can tell you the blood is normal. I've seen a little blood near the cloaca when my ball sheds and have asked and been told it's normal.

That's crazy about the size of that crap. Do you think it may be that she had eggs at some point? I don't know about balls but I do know a bearded dragon can get eggbound without ever copulating.

I hope you get an answer on this. If you don't get a reply soon you may want to make a new thread. I'm real curious as to what could have happened.

Man I hope not...she is only 19.5 months (large for that age though) and the only male near her is in a tank under hers and he is a young one. Her crap has always been large since she tends to hold it in longer than any of my other snakes but this one one by far and was by far thicker and she looked like you just empied out a bean bad afterward. I dont get it either. But off the subject, I made a post a while back about her getting out and possibly eating a ft chick I had on the floor for scenting food for an anaconda and there was some yellow around her poop so I think I can confirm that. The funny thing was there was 5 mice laying there and one chick and when I got back into the room the was 4 mice and no chick and she had escaped. I also wonder why she ate the chick? I had offered her one before since the conda would not take it and was only eating grocery store chicken parts and she bit, coiled, let go like it was not her food choice (just like the anaconda reacts to rodens).
