Hello All,
In June 1998 I wrote an article on the "Artrellia" in Reptiles magazine, that presented alot of what was known and unknown then; since then alot has been discovered or I should say, revealed about them, from both old and new sources, literature and human alike... I am rewriting this this article with more photos, and more information.
If you would like to contribute/share your experiences with Artrellia, I would be most appreciative...full credit is always given when I use them in my articles.
Some of the new things about them include, new varieties of these animals across PNG/offshore islands, new evidence supporting a new clade or group of MegaVaranids cluster, how social they are, and sharing their housing with other varanid species!
However, we still don't know what they prey upon in PNG, except the 6-7 attacks on Human I have dating from ~1880-present...
