Pool water: Harmful?

savvgawd Jul 07, 2004 01:24 AM

I've been letting my burms and other snakes swim in my pool for a while now, they seem to enjoy it a lot. Then the guy that I bought my conda from said the chlorine is bad for them because its meant to kill animals? I disagree I think that it would be fine becuase the snakes have water tight skin just like humans and as long as they arent drinking a whole bunch of the water it would be fine. What do you guys think?

Shouldn't be too bad for em. Make sure all grates and intake holes are taken care of. There will come a time though when it wont be smart to be in a pool with the snakes as they get older.(larger). On ground you have better leverage to deal with them but in a pool you're easily overwelmed by a heavy bodied snake.
I think it was dfr that had a 'snakes swimming in pools' post awhile back. Maybe scroll throughn the back posts and see whats there.

Yes he did and I agree with you again Arik. I would still try and take the snake in while chlorine levels are low. and throwing a 15 ft green in the water with you would deffinitely cause trouble for you. Now for Mark Petros's piebald ball for fun...another pic eunectes4's cell phone cannot do justice for.
