hi i was wondering if anybody has considerded starting a studbook for uroplatus geckos? the reason i ask is because there are few keepers of these compared to other keepers of lizards and few zoos keep them as well. i am not asking what everybody has just tossing around the idea in my head. if we had a studbook then we would not have to worry about inbreeding in the future. i know that the animals are still available from the wild but thought that it can't hurt to get a start on them while they are still available. Madagascar will probably not be open forever. i also know that locale data is impossible or difficult to get from dealers but maybe we could set it up so that diffrent animals from diffrent dealers could be considerd from diffrent areas? if not we could also try and compare photos from known locals and compare them to our animals for a semi-positive I.D. i know that it has to be more thought out but it cant hurt to talk more about it, right? i also know that some people sell thier baby uros and i am not disouraging that i just thought that other people who are intersested in the species would know that theirs are not related to their own animals. anyways its just an idea and i just wanted everybodys opinion on it.
