Help!!!

Rtegu Jul 07, 2004 10:12 AM

I recently took my argentine red tegu to the vet for an oral infectionand the Dr. prescribed an antibiotic. I used it for a week w/ some success, however the problem resurfaced a few days later so I decided to pick up some more medicine, but after I noticed he was having severe diarhea for a few days, I stopped the medication. Although the infection remains it doesn't seem as bad as it was, however when he eats I noticed that he has a some build up of mucous because he makes noises like some w/ a sore throat and sneezes. But this is only when he eats, his breathing seems normal.

I'd take him back to the vet and tell him what you told us. The problem is that if the infection is not cleared, it will get worse again. Just as in people, there are different antibiotics and different reactions to them, and if you explain to the vet about the diahrrea, I'm sure he would try to find another type that may not have the same effect.

Good luck, and let us know what happens.
