Seperation Anxiety?

curtf Jul 07, 2004 12:41 PM

I just received two balls, male and female, from someone who has kept them housed together in the same tank for the past three years. Both are extremely healthy and friendly. Should I separate them into different tanks or should I leave the happy couple together?

Okay so let me get this straight...The two ball pythons have been in the same enclosure for 3 years? If they were properly sexed, I'd say to put them in seperate enclosures, that is unless you don't mind them two having babies. Hope this helps.

Actually, I'd say separate them, if you are planning to breed, then return them together for breeding season, but separate them afterward. They should be fine together, and may breed, but separation can stimulate breeding responces during breeding season a little more surely. If you decide to keep them together, and they do have babies, you'll need to take out the male anyway, otherwise the female can be easily stressed.

They could NOT care LESS if they ever see each other again. Get them separate enclosures and I bet they will do 5x better...

Remember, these are snakes, not lions. They don't have a social bone in their bodies... except for males during mating season! lol

Yeah, but you should see the look in their eyes when they're together. I never really believed in true love until I saw them together. lol!
