ball python activity...

my ball python is not very active, he usually stays hidden thoughout the entire day. i understand they are nocturnal, but i watch him at night and not much activity either.

Normal. They're only active maybe 10% of the time. And since you can't watch it 24/7, I'm sure it's active when you're not looking. Snakes are not that active generally and BPs are the some of the most inactive.

if your bp is really active even at night it is either A)stressed or B) searching for food.

Earthpig nailed it on the head. My BP was pretty active when I first got it, but once he fed he chilled out real fast. I figure he was searching like crazy for a feed.
