I came up for a great idea to retrieve lost snakes. All you need is a rubbermaid with lid, a pcv pipe that will allow the snake to go through easily, and mice. Ok, now to make the box, all you have to do is make a hole on one side of the box. This hole is for the pipe. The pipe should protude outside the box about,1"-3". On the inside 4-6". Put the hole in the middle, about half way up one or more sides, depending on how many you want. This way, the snake can easily get in, but not out. Take a mouse, and this may sound weird, but make scent trails leading back to the box. Just drag the mouse across surfaces you would think they might cross. Stick a few mice in the box and wait. I got the idea looking at one of my crawdad traps. Its a similar principle. Ok, the snake will hopefully find a scent trail and follow it back. Then it will look for the entrance. Once its inside it will have difficulty getting out. I am quite confident this would work. The rubbermaid should be an appropriate size to the snake. If you want, you can email me and i will send you a sketch and more info. I hope it will work well, but i havent the chance to try it.
