it's possible to get something out of 2 normal wild caught balls but you are playing odds that are so far from being in your favor....plus if you've never had a ball before you may want to just get captives. Wild caught balls can be especially picky eaters. For your first experience I doubt you want to work with a possible problem feeder because it's going to cause you plenty of anger..lol just because you can't afford morphs doesn't mean you can't be happy...Normal balls are so varied in color & pattern that I don't see you being unhappy with them. Don't take this the wrong way but it sounds a little like you're hoping for that shot in the dark from a cheap ball that's gonna get you paid....it's the same as buying a lotto ticket & sitting there dreaming of your numbers showing & what big plans you have for afterward...lol check out some hets...albino,ghost,ringer,tiger & a couple others are on the cheaper side...so if you can't afford a pair of hets get yourself a nice male het & a normal lady breed the kids back to daddy & one of them should hopefully give you a morph..cheaper & will give you some experience because it will take time to breed them raise the daughters & bred em back.

best of luck

thanks...so what ur saying is that if i have a het male and a captive bred normal female i could get a spider or jungle pastel...or just a unique pattern and color

dude.... if you'd do some research, you'll realize how silly these questions are.

Go to www.ralphdavisreptiles.com/matrix/

and do some research on genetics...

From two CB Normal "Wild Type" ball Pythons, you'll rarely get anything.

With a het male... you breed him to a normal female, get the het blood into thier offspring, then breed him to the females of his offspring, his daughters, THUS producing whatever het you have, albeit albino, ghost...etc.

Spider and Pastels are a dom/inc. dom/co-dom trait. Read up, you'll see what I mean.

I didn't know they were proved to be simple recessive, or proven at all thuss far. I just hatched a really cool looking multi ringer in a pastel clutch. If it is a proven mutation, I may just hang on to it.
