Venezuelan maurus

herpconsultants2 Jul 07, 2004 04:13 PM

Just thought I'd share a photo of a more unusual form of maurus - Venezuelan. I recently obtained a pair of this small beauties which barely exceed 2-3 feet in length. Hope you like the photo.

This week I have also had babies born from a hypo to normal cenchria cenchria breeding - 12 babies in all. I haven't got any nice photos yet as many eggs have been hatching this week and I've been kepy busy! Pics soon.

Anyway, enjoy:

...oh, that's a 4 yr. old adult by the way. Venezuelan mauraus do not lose the pattern as do the larger Colombian form.

I'm not trying to sound critical, I am curious being new to rainbows: was wondering if there is a genetic difference in maurus from different localities, and if so what is it? How old is the one in the photo? Is it CB or imported, and can you trace the lineage from further than where you received them?
