STRIPED BRAZILIAN RAINBOW BOAS

M n R-Reptile Jul 07, 2004 04:21 PM

Check these guys out!
I just acquired 1.2 of these. One isnt as striped but is striped nonetheless. The extreme striped animal is gorgeous.
These three were born from a litter of 16 or 18 and only 5 had striping. So it seems to point to genetic.
In my experience usually all the babies are striped to a degree if it was caused by temps.
Seems like both parents were "het" for striped.
A cool project to work with, let me know what you think!!!

I saw your pics yesterday and just wasn't sure what to say. They're really neat looking snakes (I didn't want to repeat Jeff's interesting). A few years ago I think I saw a pic of a striped rainbow that just didn't appeal to me much. These that you have are marked differently than the one I think I remember. The strip is much narrower and sits down the dorsal region higher if that makes any sense. I like these here better, but personally I think the plain old brb's are marked nicer.

As far as breeding to begin to produce lines of morphs I think it's an awesome project. Color mutations are appearing more frequently from my newbie knowledge, but the patterns are a new thing. It's pretty exciting if you ask me.
