Pacman frog help!

Chris Olson Jul 07, 2004 04:22 PM

I have a freaky pacman frog, that flips himself over onto his back and then just lays there until you turn him back over...he has always been a really picky eater, refusing crickets and such, and he seems to favor one of his legs...He is much smaller than my other pacman, and I was wondering if anyone had heard of anything that would make a pacman flip over like that? I am worried that he is sick...

I too have a freaky pacman. but not as serious as yours. mine jumps like mad sometimes and the front legs always seem to be in some awkward position, as if it is broken. but it is actually not. the hands can still move back to the normal position, but only when i poke it gently. if not, the pacman will allow his hands to remain in that weird position.

My best advice to bring him to a vet. I had one that started to do that. He became very skinny and weak. I used to find him upside down in his waterdish or in the bedding. I ended up force feeding him and keeping his tank warmer and moister than usual. He got better and started eating on his own but about two months later he was doing the same thing again. I wasn't able to return him to good health the second time.

I would also suggest getting the frog checked out by a vet.
In the meantime, I suggest checking to make sure the temperatures are in the correct range as too warm or too cool also can cause these behaviors as can reactions to toxins.
