eunectes4 Jul 07, 2004 06:49 PM

I posted this below and got one response...But since this forum moves so fats I dont know if anyone will see the pictures. This is what my ball python looks like over her entire body after a shed and a MASSIVE dump. I am going to respond to thins post with a picture of her taken shortly before the shed and poop and she is considerably thicker and more solid. after this deffication her skin almost hangs off her like the underarms of a 90 year old woman...has anyone had such an experience?

before the dump...

She was probably dehydrated and constipated. This happens to my blood python quite a bit (they are notorius for that i guess.). A big poo for snakes will bloat them up because they are about 1/3 digestive tract.

:D

don't think so hard next time... she's just full of it, simple as that.

This poop she was filled with was nearly half the length of her body and about as thick as she is...I get she will lose it when she poops but I have never seen anything like this before. She looks like a 6 year old with their parents clothes on.

WOW! How many rats does she eat before she goes?

I see this with my ball pythons also. They can hold onto a lot of crap for a long time. Fill it back up with an appropriately sized rat. Also this is why it is important to measure weights after pooping. It can make a considerable difference.

Agreeed with what you just posted. But what this guy is talking about is one big turd. I got a 9ft. boa that will eat 5-6 jumbo rats before he goes and it's no even close to what he's talking about.

I actually just got her on rats recently..I was feeding 3 large mice per feeding for a long time. But I do not think it was as much the switching to rats as the possible eating of a ft chick. One night she had gotten out while I was thawing out food for all the snakes and what was left on the floor was 5 ft mice and 1 ft chick and I returned to find her cage open and 4 ft mice and 0 ft chicks...this might have made up for her some how holding out even longer and having much more than she should have in her system...but she is lose all over her entire body, I could see it around he cloaca and the lower third but its like she emptied out up past her middle. Crazy...I just hope she fills back out and this does not happen again. I wrote down the date of this massive poop and shed to see if I notice any more patterns like this or extemely long amounts of time without going. I remember last summer she held out for about 12 weeks...maybe its a summer thing?

Yeah, I'd probably take her to a vet if it were me.

Hope she ends up okay.
