Hi Everyone,

I have been on the kingsnake tegu forum for a year now, but have never posted on the iguana forum. I recently bought a hatchling green iguana named Morpheus. He is now around 3-4 months old. I guess this is more of an intro, than anything else, as Morphee is very healthy and has had no physical, or dietary problems at all, he has a very healthy appetite, and is very.... fiesty!! Apparently this is normal for a hatchling...correct? He is skittish, but is ok once he sees my hand at his level and not hovering over him!! I spend at least 30 mins a day handling him, but it seems by the following day he has forgotten all about me, and we have to start from scratch!

Anyway, here is a pic of Morphee..and any advice on his anger management problems would be appreciated also

all hatchlings are like this... it takes time for them to calm down.. it can take some months to fully calm down....

the first thing you need to do it get him comfortable with you just being around the cage.. once he stops spazzing out then you can start picking him up.. im not sure if yours is spazzing out when you are around his cage but if he isnt then that is good!!

Good luck woth your igg feed him right and keep himset up right and you will have a healthy iguana...

Thanks Mike,

He is a little freaky when we are around his enclosure, but not as much as he was when we first got him. If he is at one end, and I put my hand in for any reason at the other end, he isn't bothered at all, although fast movements inside or outside of the enclosure do scare him, and make him run. Last night I took him out, and after a few seconds of struggling, he calmed down and eventually fell asleep in my hand, he stayed like that for about 20 mins, and I was able to loosen my hold on him. He went back into his enclosure very easily, and completely calm. I guess this is a good sign?? Everyone I have spoken to about this, that have owned iguanas say that this behaviour is very normal for a hatchling. Thanks for the advice, I was starting to get a little worried, but I guess patience is the key here
