Has anyone else notice the drop in price this year on all Burms??? It's a little nerve racking when you see people out there killing the market. I have several females of all the morphs ready to breed this season and prices keep falling. The wife is going to kill me!!!

Even at a reduced price you are going to make money. I have 3 burms het for granite (1.1 albino and 0.1 normal) and when I breed them I projected selling the babies for 25% less then Bob Clark and the other big guys and I should still make over 10K. I do not know how this is not productive to you. If you are only in this for the money then this is definitely the wrong business for you. Your first nd utmost concern should be the welfare of your animals and the proper placement of the offspring into suitable homes not the almighty dollar. Do not get me wrong, I know that it is every ones dream to make a living at this but it just kind of frustrated me when I read your post and you seemed to care more about the money then the animals. I have 38 Burms (6.18 Albinos, 1.3 Granites, 1.3 Greens, and 1.3 Labs) this is a business to me. My food bill just for my Burms is $230.00 per week and I have Retics and Boas to feed. I do want all animals to go to good homes but that doesn't mean people should give them away. The market is what we make it so when someone post a clutch of Albinos for $90 each that hurts us all. The way things are going you will never see 10K out of those Hets. These are my thoughts an are not ment to offend anyone.

James, I complete understand where you are coming from and I also did not write what I wrote to offend. I was jsut in one of those moods yesterday. I understand what you are saying about the market but I also strongly believe that the vast majority of the snake buying public would be more apt to buy an albino burm from a breeder for 150 then from a supplier, distributor, or broker for 90. They understand that breeders "usually" give better care to there snakes and thus the babies are healthier. when dealing with the others you do not know what you are gettign and honstly the brokers and importers don't either. Once again, I was not trying to offend I jsut had to speak my mind. Todd

You mean albino greens for $135? Yes. I am thoroughly disgusted. I've had to drop my prices to get closer but my hatchlings aren't genetically the same. It is infuriating to see a distributor undermine the hobbyists.
