hatched 7/3 ant still not eating. HELP!!

geckocrazy Jul 07, 2004 08:57 PM

I had my first eggs hatch the other day. I put both of them in a 12quart rubbermaid. They've both had there first shed and still don't want to eat. My room is at 80-84degrees. Why might they not be eating? And how long can hatchlings go without eating? Thanks for any info.

I don't know if this will work for everbody but it worked for me so here goes:
When my hatchlings wouldn't eat I had to hand feed them. I pulled the heads off of small crickets and held it up to their noses. I made sure to get a little guts on their mouth so the could taste it. They licked it at first and then chomped down. I had to do this for a couple of days then they started to figure it out. My geuss is it could work with mealworms too. If this doesn't work try some beef baby food it might spark their appetite. Good luck! I hope this helps!

Has the gecko shed yet? Because they absorb the yolk from the egg and dont have to eat until after the first shed.
