Candles? and, one draggy not eating..

Tyrannica Jul 08, 2004 03:21 AM

Is it safe to burn candles in the same room as draggies? Just making sure. mom keeps buying me these and im kind of uneasy with lighting them up in here.

Also, my female has refused to eat. Its been 2 days, im getting worried. : her behaviour is the same, however she rarely moves from her hammock at the top of the cage..

Hello -

I burn candles all the time. It should be fine given that the candle is not in close quarters with your dragon. Also, I'd stray from any candles with overwhelming odors. Stick with the light stuff.

Out of curiousity, how old is your dragon? To eliminate immediate concern, water dragons can go several days without eating. Adults can go longer than juveniles. Your dragon may not be hungry. Are you offering food several times during a day? (e.g. Morning, afternoon, late afternoon) If your dragon refuses to eat after 6 days I'd start getting concerned. Monitor his body weight and behavior. Does he look stressed? Sick? All these things go into play. Hope this helps!

My female is about 1 year in age, im guessing, I recieved them as rescue animals and saved them from absolutely horrid conditions. I do offer them food in at least twice a day, and the female i try to offer her food ever few hours : Even her favorites such as earthworms and goldfish, she wont even look at. Oh well. I am taking her to the vet just incase, I am also concerned since my animals have mated and they are so tiny.

My suggestion is try a caloric supplement and appetite stimulant called Jump-Start..you can get it at almost any pet shop. It's easy to use and most of the time they take it. Also try force feeding...i have to do it all the time to my wds and to my geckos. hope this helps

She could be gravid, my dragons didn't eat for a month before laying eggs.
