Sellers Beware

tango Jul 08, 2004 05:53 AM

In the past year I have had several attempted frauds through ks ads. One was a woman posing as a zoo personnel. I called the zoo and she did not work there. The other was a man posing as a purchaser for Mandalay Bay Resort. Telling me he would pay for the snake in question with a 15 day purchase order. I called the resort and after one hour of being rerouted found out he doesn't work there. Recently someone posing as a buyer in a foreign country has been e-mailing me. Please check out your buyers before you send off any animal on a promise. This is common sense but I can see where in our busy and hectic lives something like this might not be checked thoroughly. With every passing year there are more thieves attracted to this hobby.

Those are wise words of advice. Personally, its either money upfront or no sale. I am happy to provide MANY excellent references to prospective buyers and anyone who is not willing to provide such references should be suspect. I, too, have had to deal with similar situations such as your's which is why I now will only ship an animal out if full payment is made (unless I know that person very well, or, a colleague gave me a good recommendation).
