Snakes mating in July

fishlady2001 Jul 08, 2004 09:52 AM

I just witnessed my checkered garters copulating last night. Since I haven't had experience with this as of yet, do you think a mating this late in the year will produse viable offspring? I know some snakes do throw a second clutch late in the year. To my knowlede, these snakes were not brumated--I obtained them 2 months ago, she was wild caught gravid last year. I've raised other people's youngsters, so that part I can handle. I just haven't had my own. What do all you experts think? Thanks!

If the mating was successful, the female will give birth, it will just be later in the year, like around September, or October.
