To feed or not to feed before the first shed...that is the question!?!

Matt J Jul 08, 2004 09:50 PM

Okay, it's been some years since I last produced 'bloods'. Years ago I waited until my P. curtus curtus (yeah I know, new latin name...) had their first shed, then I attempted to feed. But, their first shed was almost like a month after they were born if I recall correctly. Do any of you try and feed before the first shed or just wait? Maybe the LONG time frame before the shed was a fluke thing with my curtus curtus babies. Who knows... any opinions or ideas?

Thanks!

Matt
p.s. - These babies are REALLY nice... pics hopefully this weekend. Stay tuned.

Congratulations on your hatchlings! My blood pythons usually don't undergo their first sheds for at least three months after hatching. So don't wait for them to shed before you try to feed them.

Thanks for the input, Joan. I'll probably wait a week, then try them and see how it goes. Much appreciated!

p.s. - Hopefully more (better) pics to be posted this weekend!
