Help Me Identify??

Charlotte Jul 08, 2004 10:21 PM

A guy came into where I work the other day with the cutest little turtle that he found near a pond, and although I'm a huge herp addict, I'm not that into turtles and am not quite sure what kind it was.
It looked EXACTLY like a baby red ear slider (that everyone seems to be finding right now!), but instead of where the red " ears " would be, it was a perfect yellow heart! On both sides!
It was terribly cute, and I would love to know what kind it was...
Does this ring a bell with anyone??

Hello:
It sounds like a classic Yellow Bellied Terrapin (Trachemys scripta scipta). They are very closely related to Red Ears (T. scripta elegans).
Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!
