heat question ...and....vita spray comment

chamsrcool Jul 08, 2004 10:39 PM

first the heat question
My veiled cham is about 2.5 inches long...(dont know age)
he was not eating much during days i kept him inside even though the cage temps were in the mid 70s and basking was near 103.
when i take him outside from the mid 70s up he tends to eat more crickets. so is this just i dont have enough uvb with my 5.0 or is the cage notwarm enough becuase when he is outside the only shade he gets is from the ficus in his cage.
if its heat how can i warm up the cage with out warming the room? and i already have 75 watt heat lamp and the uvb tube that takes up all the spce on top of his 38 reptarium

also i have starting usint eh spray called vita spray and i have seen him finally clean out is eye(had problems for about 1 1/2weeks)and his appittite has increased emensly

anyone else have this type of result from the spray?.....also it really made my anoles perky

that 103 basking spot temp seems a bit high, especially if its for a 2 inch baby. i would adjust so the basking spot gets a temp of somewhere between 90-95.

also, i havent used the spray, but if it really increases appetite like that, i may very well look into it myself. how much of an increase in crickets consumed did you see?

I don't really see how a spray could have this effect on a herp with fairly impermeable skin (as compared to a frog, toad, or salamander). Notice how water beads up and rolls off chams? What's in this spray? Personally I have my doubts.
