i have a female who is starting to dig practice nests. she is very heavy and can't even get inside her shell! i wouldn't sell the babies. i would raise them myself and maybe if i have alot of them release them into the wild! but it is all up to u.
I just had eggs laid. I don't sell my hatchlings, I give them away to people who will agree to not purchase wild caught box turtles. Mine will be hatching in about two months. Within a month or so, you will see box turtles of all species and subspecies appearing on the classifieds. They breed best when kept outdoors, so seasons are dictating their breeding and laying times, thus the seasonal availability. The start in a month will be the beginning of several months of availability of hatchlings, as zone differences will have folks farther north laying later, hence more hatchlings available for quite a while.
Most species (excepting florida's) will sell for about $35 apiece for hatchlings.
Patience... they are coming.
