I have 2 monitors, lady vox and lord nagafen.

Anyways, I always feed them at noon, and just before I feed them I do a little knock x 3 on the glass to their viv ( and with that they usually come out of their shelters if they are in one of them ) and perch and wait at the spot I always feed.

Vox is about 11 - 12 inches and Naggy ( 4 weeks younger ) is 8ish inches.

When I knocked on their viv yesterday to feed them they both came out, but Vox did something unusual; She bit Naggy just before his hind legs and lifted him off the ground slightly. She didn't do the death shake or re-position or anything to say she wanted to actually eat him ( from what I could tell ), and after about 30 seconds put him back down.

To avoid posting any stupid "I'm moderatly new to monitors, but this is my expert oppinion." I'm going to end it here and ask for an interpritation if anyone could.

If this is perfectly natural, great. I just want to make sure.

Thanks,
~GK

"I have 2 monitors, lady vox and lord nagafen."

What species of monitors are they, how old and how do you know how old they are? Most are WC animals unless its an Aussie species and rare occaisions other species.

How big is the cage, how is set up as far as temperatures, humidity, top on that cage, how much food and what food is fed to them and how often?

Sometimes they will communicate to each other that one wants the others food, hide spot, etc, by violence, most times its posturing, and harmless communication, but if they are stuck in an area too small for them to get away from each other there can be violence. Might have also been an instance of attacking something that moved at feeding time, then relizing that its not food. Monitors are interesting creatures that can get confusing to read if you dont know them well, also it get 10 times more confusing to read or interpet if multiple monitors are kept together. Give so detail on cage size monitor species etc. it can help.
