Bloody Stools

bcwatson101 Jul 09, 2004 11:56 AM

I have a 6 week old baby beardie that has a reddish like fluid in his stools. This does not happen everyday, but occasionally. I can not tell if the fluid is actually blood since there is only a slight amount of it mixed in with the dark stool and white urine pellet, but appears to be so. The little guy eats only green veggis and crickets that are 1/4" size and smaller than the distance between his eyes. I am always concerned about keeping the crickets smaller due to impaction. Is this something to worry about, or has anyone else ever seen red in their beardies stools? Thanks lots!!!!
Brian

I would give the vet a fecal from him, as it may be coccidia. Blood in stool is sometimes a key detail to know if they possibly might have parasites. Let us know how it goes, try to get the stool there within a few hours, and it usually only runs between 15-20 dollars, depending on the vet.
