Darkened Coloration

Tarzana Jul 09, 2004 11:56 AM

After giving Racso his meds this morning, I have noticed that his overall color is much darker than it usually is. Is this caused by stress? He did shed a little bit on his legs but that's about it, so I don't think it has anything to do with that. Could someone please educate me on what the reasons are for beardies changing colors. Thankyou-Kara

Many times it is whether he is cold or hot. If he is cold, he wants to get all the heat he can get so he turns darker to attract the heat, and then when he is fine with heat he will turn lighter to reflect at least some of the heat. Sometimes it is their mood as well, so after meds he could be a bit grumpy.
