New baby and not sure what to do

Euryale Jul 09, 2004 02:04 PM

Well, my boyfriend gave me a bearded dragon two days ago, I guess he thought I would like one since I keep uromastyx but I really dont know much about breadies... I have not seen it eat yet and he looks really small... we were told that he is about 2 months old... I have him in his own tank with the lights and everything... on sand becasue that it what I have around for my uro's... What could I try to have him eat... he does not seem to want: keal, apples, parsley, meal worms, water, or any type of sead or feed... amd I know that is bad when a uro open it mouth and such but what about beardies mine seems to do it alot... does that mean that it is too hot for him too?

Try www.beautifuldragons.com for info on almost everything. Crickets at a young age that are dusted with calcium are a good place to start. Beardies get into veggies more as they get older. Mine like collard and mustard greens that are chopped up. You have to chop finner for a beardie than for a uro and they like cooler temps than a uro. You might want to replace the sand with shelf liner or paper towels also until your beardie is older. Sand is only recomended for adults and some people do not even use it than, Impaction can be a problem with sand. Beardies also need to be caged by themselves so that is good. Also as a new arrival he/she might be in a bit of schock for a little while. (do not let that schock go on to long) Nice pic of a Uro. you have there I have Beardies and Nigerian Uro,s and they are the same in some ways but completely differant in others, you have a journy of fun before you.
