Excaped Dummerils (AGAIN)

bka Jul 09, 2004 09:08 PM

Last year my dummeril gave birth. The only problem was none of the babies were found in the cage. So this year I was more careful to make sure the cage was closed tighter. Thier cage has sliding glass. This morning I went in the room and saw a baby on the edge of the water bowl. Then I opened the cage and only found 3. First thought was she needs a year off. Then I noticed a baby on my rack. After a couple hours of searching I had found 8 total. I just can't wait till next year!lol!!!

I see the game "Hide-and-go-seek" is a popular game in your house. How many did she have last year?

You gotta take some pictures..

Sounds like fun, finding little surprises here and there...

All but 2 of 13 of a clutch got out the 1st week after they were born. I had them all in an all-glass 40 critter(before they fixed the small snake problem) to wait out their 1st shed. (Sidenote- Dumerils don't have to wait for their 1st shed to eat, they hit the ground running.. I mean crawling). I was really upset, because I new no matter how much I looked, I wouldn't find all of them in my garage. It was cold too. However after 2 weeks of setting up traps and looking under rugs, chest freezers, ect - I found them all. Good luck. They are very hardy. Whatever you do don't give up hope, you'll get them all!
