I'm considering purchasing a Pastel Ball python; however it has a small kink towards the tip of the tail. Would it still be valued as a quality snake? Obviously at as a pet, it would not affect it either way. But eventually I would try to breed it to at least get some of my money back, would this be a wise investment? Thanks. Dave.

Maybe it's just me, but if you told me the parent of a python you are trying to sell me is kinked, anywhere, at all, I'll pass. Look at the caramel albino situation - that *might* be carried in the genetics. But that's just my view, others may vary.

It might make a fine pet, though, but as far as breeding? Again, I wouldn't want the chance of creating a line with a weak gene.

Thanks, that makes sense to me. I, however, thought that kinks are associated with having too much moisture on the egg when it is being incubated. Is this correct? or is genetics envolved? Thanks, Dave.

Treat it the same as any flaw in any product. You would not pay full price for a car if it had a large scratch or torn interior.

As a breeder, I would not sell an imperfect animal at perfect prices
