mouth rot?

domingoakasunday Jul 09, 2004 11:08 PM

I have a young ball python (under 6 months old) she is 18 inches long and wieghs 52 grams... she refuses to eat. her mouth is semi white. it is more white then the other two older ball pythons that I have. her mouth is mostly white. there is no extra saliva or "cottage cheese" look... I may just be paranoid but I am leaving first thing in the morning for South Carolina and I neighbor is going to be caring for the snake for 10 days... should I be worried?

1.0 blood python (lestat)

...without prior trauma to the snake's mouth. More likely this juvenile is anemic due to a lack of nutrition, and this can be manifested as "pale membranes". I suggest you re-evaluate this snake's housing/heating arrangement and/or food offered. At this point it might be advisable to assist-feed a large fuzzy mouse or 2 to get some nutrition into it. Good luck!
