I would go with a garter/water snake. Easy to keep snakes that will eat just about anything you offer. Many will eventually take small rodents in addition to fish/worms. Do not feed captive animals WC prey. Feeding snakes toads, salamanders, frogs, etc. can lead to a high level of parasites in your snake.

Why can't we feed the captive animals with salamanders, if this is what they eat in the wild, why suddenly they will face parasite problem ??? How can I tell that my snakes have parasite problem and what are the symptoms ? My northern ringneck snakes only eat salamander, if I cannot feed the snakes with salamander because of parasite issue, Will you please tell me what else I can feed my ringneck snakes. Your answer to these questions is highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Parasites become an issue when in captivity due to strees largely. When an animal is stressed, parasites, which might normally not have too much of a detrimental effect normally, can kill the snakes. They can cause them to lose weight drastically among other things. If you want to go and worm your snakes often and pay for the vet visits, that is your choice. Earthworms and pinky mice are good feeders. You can always scent the food items with salamanders to make them appeal to the snake.
