What is the best way to heat a Vison Cage?

TEKNOSYS Jul 10, 2004 09:19 AM

I have a Tokay Gecko in a Vison Cage and am having a hard time keeping the temp. up. Incandesent lights are not practical because the model I have only has a long narrow opening for a floresent fixture. I tried using an under tank heat pad made for a 10 gallon. That had almost no effect. Should I try a larger pad? Any ideas?

First of all I dont know anything about gex. But for my iguanas we use a simple human heating pad (one that does NOT cut off after 2 hours) set on low and that helps boost temps. I also use a heating lamp or a CHE (ceramic heater) aimed at the cage to boost temps . Maybe this will help you. Im not even sure what a "vision" cage is but I assume you do have a way to pass a cord through an opening?

Incandesent bulb in a bell shaped shop lamp setting it above the screen top vent.
