Kudzu?

lovelyleopards Jul 10, 2004 02:31 PM

Okay, I know this will sound strange, but can anyone see a problem with feeding kudzu as an occasional green? I have a good deal of the pesky stuff in my yard, and I looked up some nutrition info on the web, and it looks okay to me. Here's a link: http://www.kudzucuisine.com/kudzu_nutrients.htm. Anyone see a problem? I am owner of a new baby green ig, and aside from the mustard, collard, and turnips greens, I'd like to possibly vary his diet with some plants naturally found i my area, aside from dandelions. I'm also going to look up some info on muscadine fruit and leaves, etc. Anyone else feed plants such as this? Thanks for any input!

I see no problem with feeding kudzu, unless of course you use chemicals in your yard. I am not sure, so anyone please fell free to correct me, but I remeber reading that kudzu is related to alfalfa. I know people sometimes eat parts of the plant. I have also heard that goats seem to like it, though goats eat pretty much anything. The flowers are really nice, so see if your iggy likes them. There might not be a problem with the kudzu, but there might be trouble getting your ig to eat it. Hope this helps, jrbl
