What should I do about "lost" food (Kinda long)

CokeOfMan Jul 10, 2004 03:39 PM

Just now when I was feeding my pacman, a small (smaller than one centimeter) peice of an earthworm came loose when my frog ate it. The small peice of earthworm was still "alive" and somehow crawled under the frog. This has happened to me before and then I have always moved the frog to remove the food, but now I wonderd if it is necesary. Anyway, the frog had buried quite deep and was sitting on the glass of the tank (I have about 2 inches of soil) and under him I saw the small peice of earthworm. I pushed the frog away and removed the earthworm, I'm just worried that it might mold or something under the frog. Am I the only one who has a problem with this? And now that I saw that the earthworm was under the frog, I of coruse removed it, but if the peice had crawled in to the soil would there be any reason to remove it?

Personally I remove all uneaten food as otherwise it spoils and can create poor living conditons for your frog.

I always remove the uneaten ends of the nightcrawlers, and toss them in my Oscar Cichlid tank to be quickly eaten. I do not think tha the smaller ends of the worm can live that long, and I'd imagine they'd molder and dirty up the tank. You did well to remove them!
