Old girl

TW Jul 10, 2004 06:56 PM

I've kept this WC female gray since 2000; have posted her images on this forum many times; as she's a particularly large specimen; just under 3". Sadly, she has lost mobility in rear legs & I'm wondering if she'll succumb soon. She's always been a impressive acrobat & hunter, w/ a great mellow personality. Here's a couple more shots.

She looks great, TW, good weight on her and good skin. I have no idea how long a captive Grey can live but I've had Barkers live more than five years. Maybe she'll surprise you. How much mobility is she lacking -- is she able to catch crix and feed herself?

TW, very nice frogs, I remember your pictures from before, but not close ups like this. Very nice coloration inbetween back legs also. Hope all goes well with the mobility, not sure on what could cause that. You do dust crickets every now and then right?

I know a horticulturist that has had both a RETF and a gray for over 5 yrs. Get this, they are in the same tank! You can't predict how things will work out, which IS why we don't recommend mixed species!

I'm looking in to doing a hort. diploma program after high school, and im trying to talk to as many people in the feild as possible, to make sure it is really what i want to do. if you could possibly message me some of the specifics of their workplace, what they do, how thye like it, how long it took them to get a job, ect... i would be FOREVER greatfull!!

Yes, she can feed but has lost use of rear legs, poor thing just drags them behind her. No visible trauma, just a puzzling paralysis. I'm at a loss. She is a mature frog, was a large adult 4 years ago.

I considered euthanizing her w/ oragel; but as long as she can feed & soak, I'll just make her comfortable & see what progresses.
