Coluber constrictor anthicus

tommyboy Jul 10, 2004 10:14 PM

I would like to know if anyone here has any info regarding this sub specie directly related to the amount of cream scales present on the dorsum. I am interested to know if this is related to size , simply a locale specific genetic characteristic , or something without explanation at this point. If anyone is keeping or has observed/collected animals from different locales I would really like to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

I am currently working on a project involving the pattern variences of anthicus and my data suggests that it dorsal speckling is indeed related to both size and locality. So far I have looked at only Louisiana specimens. My findings are that the number of dorsal specks gradually increase as the animal grows. This is not apparant in every specimen but is generally the case.

If you need anymore info please let me know!
