I was corrected below for referring to someone’s animal as a pastel. What I am wondering is this a proven trait in boas such as albino or hypo? They way I have always understood it, is that its not a proven trait such as those mentioned. If you breed two animals that are really dark odds are a lot of the offspring will represent that. Not always true but that’s why we always seek out nice offspring from nice adults, they’ll represent the adults. Now to my understanding pastel in boas is the same. I have always understood as the neonates will represent the adults its not a co-dom or recessive trait. Am I wrong? I have always thrown the pastel term around kind of loosely, just like most else I have no intentions of misrepresenting anything or advising people to do so if this is a proven trait. Thanks

Pastel was created through years of selectively breeding the lightest colored animals together. Jeff wanted to peel away the tint that covered the boas natural color. You are correct, it is not a mutation... anyone can make one through a little patience. It would probably be wise for anyone who does so to coin a new name if they are to pass them off as a separate line (than Ronne's).

Apreciate the info, I wasnt aware Ronnie had line bred them I thought it was a term just sorta handed to some outstanding animals. I agree razors way of explaining it was very good. Also Chris thanks for the info below about the argentines, Jason

sorry I rarely ventyure this far down LOL but ya she looks good, between her and the two dumerils I have left I am waiting on I have been pacing the snakes room waiting LOL Ill throw some pics up as soon as they come, thanks
