fourfeathers Jul 11, 2004 02:35 AM

Does anyone have a "giant" Ball Python?

If so, let's see it.

Sorry couldn't find any ball python pics that were anywhere close. 22 ft. and 350 lbs

The 3 D cell maglite is in the pic for size reference.

Believe it or not, this girl gained about 2000 grams in the last 3 months.

The cage is approx 32" long she doubles it! The male is a adult and he basically gets lost next to this girl!

Just thought I would share the photo.

HOLY BIG SNAKE BATMAN!

That is a BIG BP. Now that's what I'm talking about!

How much does she weigh?
What's the length?

What's the diet???

You MUST be proud!

Thanks for sharing!

She is a rat feeder, actually she is one of my rat disposal units, she eats all the retired breeder rats and let me tell you some of our male rats are HUGE, and she sucks them down with no problem what so ever! She is defiantly big enough to take small rabbits, but I breed rats... So she eats as many as she wants. She weighs in the 8k gram range and is just massive! Although he main competitor isn’t that far behind her, But her competitor just laid an 11 egg clutch about a month ago that weighed right around 1600 grams. She will catch back up very as though as she is really pounding whatever she is offered.

8000 grams at 64"? That is truly amazing. What is the largest clutch she has produced (number of eggs and total mass)?

Thanks,
Joan

Jyohe has females that are 6-8 lbs. but says they are 4-5lbs. He has some huge Ball pythons, and they throw 8-10 eggs on average (I think he has had 12-14 per clutch??) He has the biggest Ball pythons that I have EVER seen, and most are only 2-6 years of age.

8 lbs is still less than 4,000 grams. Perhaps when they get older they will eventually double to 8,000 grams but can you imagine a ball twice as heavy as those biggest ones you have seen so far? If it follows the trend of smaller females to lay 1/3 of it’s weight it’s clutch should weigh 2,666 grams and even with huge 120 gram eggs it should lay 22 (even at 130 grams/egg it would still lay 20). Maybe the really big girls put less into their clutches or maybe this one will set a new record.
