Golden Greeks? $?

cwilder Jul 11, 2004 08:47 AM

Does anyone on the forum know what golden greek hatchlings might go for? I've never seen any for sale up until yesterday. I saw 4 this past weekend for 250.00 each and thought that sounded resonable. Unfortunatly, I have no more room!!! They were very nice looking hatchlings. I'm sure someone bought them by now.

Now that most people have figured out how to keep them alive I think you're going to see a lot more of these babies. I also suspect that when people see the babies grow into regular looking T. graeca, the price will come down. I wouldn't pay that price unless I could see both parents and I trusted the person selling the animals.

I was wondering myself if they would look like the adults when they grow. These little guys were very yellow. They were very nice looking torts but I felt a little pricey. They also had "Black greek hatchlings". They were solid black and very cute as well. As a side note, I did trust the people who had them. They are very reputable in the reptile business.

I don't know if I'd pay $250 (It's not really that bad) but you can be sure they are first generation CB and would make a good breeding project if you were to find more first generation from different bloodlines. It would be real significant to see the parents in each case though.

Can you link where you found those at? I wanna see em!

Also, I'm curious, what is the "secret" to keeping this species Ed. Enlighten us? I want to know, I have been thinking of getting a pair for a couple years now.

Thanks

Sorry tortuga! I don't think they have a website. I saw them at the FIRE show in Orlando. Mark and Kim Bell are the people who had them. I'm sure they will be in Daytona if they didn't sell them already.
