Parasites

I finally found a vet that would take reptiles around here so I took my geckos to make sure that they didn't have anything wrong with them. They told me that they were loaded with parasites and they gave them something to get rid of them. But I have to come back every two weeks and have them take more medicine and then do a fecal. They told me also to change the liner in the cage out and clean all the time so they won't be reinfected. Anyway..I found one of my leos licking its butthole *for lack of better term* and it has me worried..I've never seen one do that before. I wonder if it hurts him..and will licking that reinfect him?

Ya, they are just cleaning themselves. I'd be a bit worried though if I were you. With your leos having parasites--they;ve also come in contact with your other herps (judging from your pictures), so you'll have to bring them in too.

When you clean out the infected leo cages, what I did was about a cup of bleech to a gallon of water I'd put it in the cage and let it sit for about 10 minutes. I did this everyweek. Make sure the fumes are gone. I increased the bleach levels towards the end of the medication cycle. Good luck and I hope everyone feels better!

the blizzard gecko that I got from LLLreptile gave my other geckos the parasites...The pictures I have taken are of before the blizzard came and they were healthy then...as petco told me they were examined by their vet.
