my snakes are in my room and i wanna get a black light or two...or just get 2 of the light bulbs and put them in...would this bug the snakes at night if i was to have it on? or would they not even notice and still move around and stuff? because it is a colored light but im not sure if it would bug them or not?

I have a jungle carpet python and have a red light on her at night to help keep the temp up. I have seen her out and about with the red light on. She has even set up on the top of her branch near the lid where the light is. I don't know how a snake would react if they have never had a light though. I don't have night lights on my corns or milk. Just my python.

Snakes and other reptiles can not see the red spectrum of light, it's too low for them to see. I actually had a blacklight on my black rat for a while at night, before I got a red light. It didn't seem to bother her that much, but I wouldn't do it again.

How close to the tank are your blacklights going to be?

and a regular incandescant screw in bulb will NOT give you a true "blacklight"...i.e. the one that makes white shirts glow purple. you HAVE to get a flourescent for that, because you are looking at a totally different type of gas going through that.
