One of mine does not like to be handled at all and cranes her neck when held, and has tried to bite at me. None of my females appreciate being handled when they are gravid.
I don't exactly view it as aggression, but more as self defence.
So, I don't really handle them alot.
I have a sub-adult male that will bite toes and fingers if given the opportunity, but he does that with anything that looks like food... always hungry I guess.

Seems like all turts have their own personalities i guess. I have 2 ornates. The male has been with us about 2 years now and is mature adult. The female is new to us and a bit younger. She will occasionally try to bite when we pick her up. The male has never bit at us but will occasionally hiss at us if he does not want to be handled. Maybe like people they have grumpy days and happy days?
One thing for sure, the more you interact with them, the friendlier they get. Our male will come to us now when we come out to the enclosure to watch him. When we first got him, he ran for cover at the sight of us. The female is starting to copy his behavior too. In the mornings, they will both come to us when we walk outside. Of course the fact we often hand feed a slice of strawberry or peach when we come out in the mornings might have something to do with it (hehe)!
