why my green anoles wont turn green.....

hi i have two green anoles in a ten gallon cage and they have food water and a heat lamp even a stick and plants to climb on.....but the baby is a dark spotted brown and theother is light brown...when i bought them form the pet store they were green and the only other time i have seen them green is when they ate crickets and that happened only twice.please help any ideas i dont want them to die

If they never turn green, then something in the environment is stressing them. The first thing I can for sure point to is the cage is too small. Ten gallons is too small for even one anole. They need a bare minimum of twenty gallons in order to have enough space to call their own. Other things may be a factor as well, such as humidity or temperature gradient, or even a cat staring at them through the glass.

Stress is right, how long has he/she been in there? It may take some time for it to get used to the new enclosure. Also if there is no greenery in the enclosure that could also be part of it. Here is a healthy green i toook a pic of.

it also might be that it doesn't want to take in heat. or that it isn;t healthy because, it should be changing color.

You say they were green when you bought them, but were they running around? Were they alert? Assuming that they were healthy, it could be too warm in the cage. My anole tunrns dark brown when he basks for a while, and turns green when hes away from the basking spot.
