Hello,
Unlike Rhactodactylus which consumes nectar and fruit with an insect diet, Uroplatus-particularly the larger species fimbriatus and henkeli- consume Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches as the main diet. I keep both the above species which thrive on an exclusive diet of crickets. I know they do not consume fruit as it is occasionally put in the enclosure for the crickets to consume.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Brian

Thanks. I knew they have a diet of insects. I was just curious if they would ocassionally accept fruit, because, I have a pair of wahlbergs geckos, and after having them for about 6 months now and feeding them only insects, someone recently told me that they feed their wahlbergs fruit on occasion. So, I wondered if anyone had ever tried with uroplatus. I had never heard of it, and didnt think they would, but, you never know.
last year when i could get no crickets i tried to feed my sikores peach and vitamin fortified baby food. the females ate but the males did not.
i have kept phantasticus and pietschmanni and offered baby food a few times to both species when feeding it to my cresteds. to get my cresteds interested i put a dab on the tip of their mouth. whenever i have tried the same with spinies or satanics, they back away from the food and wipe it off their snout. i even tried offering it to newborn phantasticus, they too showed no interest. but they always go for live food!
i've tried with phantasticus, lineatus, and sikorae. i have had all accept a little but only when put directly on their snout using a 10ml syringe. all seemed to take several licks of it but would never eat it as a meal like my cresteds do. haven't done it for awhile because they won't eat enough of it.
i feed my geckos apricot sometimes they just the juice on it but dont eat or bite it
When I medicate or assist feed I use chicken and gravy flavored babyfood (diluted with pedialyte)and all my henks will readily lick it off their snouts... They have also licked if off the cage walls as I place it there as well... However, they won't go walking around looking for it in their cage!... Like Brian said, its not like a rhaco that will eat it from a dish like a dog eats dog food...
