for him. I fed him my albino male a nice sized rooster and when he gets it about half way down, I'm gonna take some pics. Good thing about this is there are no flaws. If he does get hooked on chicken there is a very good supply for me. It wasa pretty rooster but to me the snake is prettier. If I see him being any bit nervous I will not risk him regurging for a pic. I can just try it again. I don't hitnk It will be a poblem because when he eats rats I can pet him and stuff and it does not bother him a bit. It is times like this when I wish the concontainer was completely transparent. Well this weekend me and my dad are going to start his permannet enclosure. He won't be cramped much longer.

I would be very careful feeding chickens. If you are feeding a rooster, I would cut off the spurs before you put it in there. Just think if that chicken at any point in the swallowing moved anyway but the right way. All those feathers and claws will lay down as long as everything goes right, but if it moves backward, thats not a good thing.

I know there are lots of people who do it, But I dont know if thats a risk I want to take with mine.

Oh yes, I understand fully what you mean. I checked for spurrs because there is no way on this earth I would feed it a chicken with spurrs. I am no chicken expert, but one of 2 things happened. 1.) someone already cutoff the spurrs. (actually the ones i used to despurr you just pull them to the side and they pop of) 2.)it had not grown them yet.

Don't know much about it but after I bought 9 chicks for variety someone mentioned to me that there's a chance of catching salmonella from eating chickens. Once my nine are gone I'm stickin with rabbits. Like I said though, just a thought.

yea, there is a chance of it, but very slim. I myself have had salmanella from chicken eggs. It was much like food poisoning, but not qite that bad(Ihave had both). Hey anyone that breeds rabbits do your bite? I have 2, I think mini rexes. I got htem because of the soft thin fur. My female will bite me if I put hand near her, and the male will attack with hs claws by rearing up on hind leggs and lunging forward attacking.

I currently have lops, and they do not bite. They will kick with their hind legs but that is about it. They also are long haired, which I dont like, but oh well.

A suggestion to anyone looking to breed rabbits. I would personally go with New Zealands. Red, whites, it doesnt really matter. They are a bigger rabbit, they grow pretty quick, and there is lots of meat, and not a lot of fur and crap. They also have pretty good sized litters as well. I really wish I could find some where I live, but I cant so I have to settle. Some people may have other suggestions, but this is my 2 cents.

My papa had new zealands. I am going to get some on saturday (hopefully) at a big flea market. It is near amery missisispi. They always have a bunch of things like pigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks and just about evrything else too. Any other farm animals like that do you think would be cool adn of couse safe to feed for some pics? The pigs are a definite no, because i have one and i would feel sorry for it on the 2 hour drive home and they cost like 20 -50 dollars. Mayeb a duck? I know a goat. Naw I would feel sorry fo it to. If it was a quick 5 minute drive I could feed it anything, but the longer the wait the worse it gets. Dog?

Something to think about with feeding different things, is that they may get used to them. I dont know if you keep many pets around, but if you feed it something that you keep around, I have this problem because I do have rabbits around, you set yourself up to have some problems with getting rid of the smell. I almost cant take my big ones outside anymore, cause they start smellin them bunnies, and you can tell theyre lookin fer em.

hmm. Never thought of that. Luckily that should not be a problem as my snake shed and the rabbit pens, my turtkeys, chickens and stuff are a couple hundred feet away and there is another shed (work shed) in the view so that may stop some of the smell. You brought up a very good point though. I don't think I'll have a problem with it getting hooked on chickens. if i do I have a supply so it is no big deal. I mainly did that to whatch it and take pics of it eating. Do you think that I could breed mini rex rabbits to new zealands? would it make a new rex or a mini zealand? (joke)

For breeding the rabbits, Im not quite sure on the name, , but you can interbreed them. I would definitely go with a mini rex male to a new zealand female. The mini rex female would probably not be able to deliver the babies if it were the other way around. Ive looked into doing this with the bunnies I have as well. The babies should be a bit smaller at birth, but should not be as small as the rexes. Good luck, rabbits can be a bit of a pain at first, but I think its gonna pay off for me in a big way. And im sure its cheaper to feed em than buy em.
