my beardie bit me!!

jeepgal Jul 11, 2004 04:40 PM

In the last 3 weeks, my beardie, Draco, has bit me twice. the first time, I just put my hand into his cage as I always do and put my finger toward him (he always licks it when I do this) and this time he munched down. The second time was earlier today, I was holding him with both hands flat and he latched onto my thumb. My husband and I have noticed that he's been being more aggressive in the past month or so. When we try and clean his cage or take him out, he will puff up and gape his mouth open and will try and strike. We just got home yesterday from a vacation of 10 days, we did have somebody come in every couple days to feed him and I fed him when we got home and he did nothing to me. What could be causing his aggressive behavior and how can we correct it?

if so they do go after bright colors, cherry, orange, peach...

if not, they can go through a tough guy phase and this may be it. not all BDs try to push their boundries but some do. when they figure out where their boundries are they are fine.

never strike your BD as it wont teach them anything. dont reward him for his aggressiveness by returning him to his cage. he must larn that aggressive behavior will not be benificial. he will probably grow out of it in a few weeks.
