michiel1981 Jul 11, 2004 05:14 PM

I just bought a morelia viagarata female 3 years of age and put her in my adult cheynei male tank for temp and he started to sex her! i seen him use 2 little things at the back of his tail and he wont leave her alone.
like she is getting raped hehe!
whats the chance of him making 0her pregnant now?
or how does this work lol

From what I know there are only a few males that will...ahem...mate out-of-season. Meaning they'll screw anything (Including water bowls I've heard. lol)!!!...But I'd say the female you picked up is more than likely in heat and your male is just acting accordingly. It might be a smaller clutch depending on the size of the female but if you give her a good heat spot, feed her until she refuses to eat(Since you didn't have a chance to prep her a few medium meals will help her not to depleat herself too bad) and give her a lay box in a couple weeks you'll probably get a clutch.-This may be a good time to read up on carpet breeding care sheets if you haven't already. Oh! Do you have an incubator ready?

Best of luck!

holy [bleep]
can she get pregnant that fast?
btw i cant get the female out of the tank cuz my male wont come off her hehe
and if i try to touch her he gets furious.
it would rock if she get a few baby's hell that would be awesome. i better go read up!

Don't mess with them! If he has locked with the female you can cause serious injury if you try to part them. The damage has already been done if you didn't want to breed them (What you get when you put a female in with a male). I'd leave them to it. They'll proablably be locked off an on for several days. Just let things take their course...

Yeah, its a little unexpected but not uncommon. Carpets don't have a 'set' season.

No Prob, this is the one I'd suggest:
http://www.moreliapythons.com/Breeding_Carpet_Pythons.htm

Also you can do a google search for carpet python breeding and come up with a few other internet resources.

I quickly shot a few pics i bet i could make much cooler onces of them being active on eachother more but i want to disturb them less as possible.
and it could be me going nuts but im also hearing a very low vibrating sound and im not sure if it comes from the snakes or my head haha
