Leo eating question

crimsonwolf1313 Jul 11, 2004 05:50 PM

I've had my blizzard leo now for 5 years and with no problems until this year. I keep her and 3 other females in a 55 gallon tank. But my blizzard can't seem to eat her food, she can see but she can bite it, i have to hold it wile she takes a few stabs at it and i can tell shes really hungery. i thought it was a calcium problem as seen in pictus gex, but even calcuim hasn't help. The wierd thing is she is the only one having eating problems. Is there anything eles that could be wrong, maybe gentics from the color morph? Any info would be great.

Crimson,
Is she a blazing blizzard with red eyes? I once had an albino california kingsnake who, at about 7 years of age, began to miss food items offered on tongs. He'd strike and miss repeatedly. Just my opinion, but human albinos have trouble with their eyesight, so why not reptiles as well? Perhaps it's degenerative in nature and age related? Hopefully someone will shed some light on this phenomenon. In the meantime, are you hand feeding her? Sounds like a really neat lizard.
regards,
althea
