Become an adult before you really should get an animal for a pet that can live 15-20 years and can bite pretty hard as well send you to get stitches at a hospital. I responded to a post the other day on this subject about children not being capable of PROPERLY caring for a monitor. What I mean is do you have a full time job (40 or more hours a week, to make enough money to pay for food electricity, caging materials, etc, etc)? Do you live with your parents(its their house , their rules and they will have to pay for the animal and its care)? Do you still go to school (after all you should concern yourself with a proper education long before considering a pet that lasts twice as long as you have so far). This is in no way to say you are not responsible enough to remember to feed it, water it, make sure it doesnt get too hot too cold etc etc but you cannot properly support the animal so your parents will be caring for it, looking over your shoulder, and paying for every vet bill, food bill, caging, etc etc.
A few good points though ackies are all CBB, they can live in a cage that other monitors could spend their first few months only in (4x2x2), they eat alot less than most species of monitor (but they eat alot (after all, they are monitors, healthy properly cared for monitors eat alot), they cannot do near as much damage as medium or large monitors but they can still send you to the hospital for stitches an infection, etc. Its cool to have them but finish your schooling, decide what your gonna do in life move out of your dads house then buy yourself a monitor (HECK GET 5 IF YOU CAN SUPPORT THEM), but just because they are cool now to you is no reason to get a monitor, its a big commitment, heck 80% of couples get divorced in 6 months, ask yourself and your dad if you can commit your life to an animal that lives 15-20 years. Good luck, he needs to know both sides, dont lie to him after all hes responsible for you so hes responible for it to.
