Please help, my bearded dragon is really worrying me.

gsir8 Jul 11, 2004 08:02 PM

For about an hour now, my bearded dragon has been making a hissing sound, and opening his mouth. Whenever I go near him, he stops. But when I go into the other room, he keeps doin it. Why is he making that sound, is he sick? I put sand in his cage today, and he went swimming in the bath tub. Could those be any reasons why hes doin it?

It kind of sounds like he has the hiccups (but I don't think they can have that). He might have been too hot, it was about 105 degrees on the ground where was sitting, and he is about 97 degrees.

Could be a lot of things causing it. Worse case, I would say maybe a resperatory infection. If he keeps it up, get him into a vet and get it checked out.
